Position Summary:
The Registration/Patient Care Technician supports patient care operations during night shift by assisting with patient registration, communication, and basic clinical tasks under the direction of nursing staff. This role serves patients in the Emergency Room and inpatient setting, ensuring accurate registration, efficient workflow, and quality patient care.
Essential Job Functions:
Patient Registration & Administrative Support
•Greet and assist patients and visitors in a professional manner.
•Complete accurate patient registration, including demographic and insurance information.
•Verify insurance and coordinate with appropriate departments as needed.
•Answer direct phone calls and assist with communication between departments.
Patient Care Support
•Assist nursing staff with basic patient care activities, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
•Support patient care needs in the Emergency Room and inpatient setting.
•Transport specimens and retrieve supplies as needed.
•Document patient information, care activities, and observations accurately.
•Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Safety & Infection Control
•Follow established safety procedures, including proper body mechanics and lifting techniques.
•Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
•Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Requirements:
Required
•High School Diploma or equivalent required
•Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire or within 90 days
Preferred
•Patient Care Technician (PCT) training or equivalent healthcare experience preferred
•Previous experience in an emergency department, inpatient setting, or similar acute care environment preferred

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a clinical and office environment, including the Emergency Room and inpatient areas. Requires prolonged standing or sitting, frequent interaction with patients and staff, and occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds. This position requires working overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
