Are you a dedicated General Medicine Physician looking for flexible, impactful work that supports our nation's Veterans? Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company, is seeking motivated Locum Physicians to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across North Carolina. This is an excellent opportunity to utilize your medical expertise in a rewarding, non-treatment-focused role with flexible scheduling and competitive compensation.
In this role, you will conduct interview-based assessments with some physical testing, such as range of motion and muscle strength evaluations. There is no prescribing or treatment involved, making it ideal for specialists seeking meaningful work without the typical clinical demands. The position offers the flexibility to work on a PRN basis, with options for half or full-day shifts tailored to your availability.
Required Skills:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with current, unrestricted license in North Carolina
- Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
- Experience with compensation and pension exams or assessments preferred
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to perform interview-based evaluations and basic physical assessments
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience with VA or military-related assessments
- Familiarity with administrative tasks related to documentation and report submission
- Certification in relevant medical specialties or credentials such as DMA (preferred but not required)
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- At least 2 years of clinical practice or assessment experience
- Previous experience with compensation and pension evaluations is advantageous
Other Requirements:
- Own a private office location within the specified radius for each assignment
- Full availability to work approximately 4-8 hours per shift, on a PRN, ongoing basis
- Must complete training and first exams to qualify for bonus rewards
- Local candidates only; travel is included in the pay rate
- Ability to perform follow-up administrative work, including report submissions and addendums
