Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Rock Drilling Maintenance Specialist on behalf of one of our partners — a market leader in the field of rock drilling and heavy equipment with deep hands-on expertise in FRD machinery to join their growing team to oversee and perform maintenance, repair, and optimization of rock drilling equipment used in mining, construction, and quarrying operations across the UAE. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems found in rock drilling rigs and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of rock drilling machines (DTH, Top Hammer, Rotary Drills).
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical faults on drilling rigs and auxiliary equipment.
- Maintain and repair drilling consumables and attachments (rods, hammers, bits, etc.).
- Conduct routine inspections and diagnostics to identify wear and potential failures.
2. Equipment Optimization
- Monitor equipment performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Support operational teams in optimizing drill rig parameters for productivity and minimal downtime.
- Provide feedback to OEMs for product improvement based on field performance.
3. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service records.
- Prepare technical reports for major repairs, failures, and incidents.
- Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to manage work orders.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
- Participate in risk assessments and safety audits related to maintenance activities.
- Train junior technicians and operators on proper handling and safety procedures.
5. Coordination & Support
- Liaise with OEM representatives and suppliers for spare parts, upgrades, and technical assistance.
- Coordinate with the operations team to schedule maintenance with minimal impact on production.
- Support commissioning of new drilling equipment and conduct acceptance inspections.
Requirements
Education:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Technical certifications in drilling equipment maintenance are an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in rock drilling equipment maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with brands such as Sandvik, Epiroc (Atlas Copco), Furukawa, or Tamrock is highly preferred.
- Experience working in harsh environments such as desert or remote project sites is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in reading hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems.
- Basic knowledge of welding, fabrication, and machining is desirable.
Languages:
- English proficiency is required (spoken & written).
- Knowledge of Arabic or Hindi/Urdu is a plus.
