Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Special Education Teacher is needed for a transition program serving students aged 18-22 in a post-secondary setting. This heavy case management position involves collaboration with service providers and parents to support the educational and developmental goals of students with disabilities. The role is based in Waukegan, IL, within a K-12 school district, and covers the 2025-2026 school year starting August 18, 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction tailored to the needs of students aged 18 to 22
- Manage and coordinate comprehensive case management duties including IEP development and implementation
- Collaborate effectively with families, service providers, and school staff to create supportive learning environments
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to meet individual goals
- Maintain compliance with all special education regulations and policies
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Professional Educator License with Learning Behavior Specialist 1 Endorsement
- Proven experience working with students with disabilities, particularly in the 18-22 age group
- Strong skills in Individualized Education Program (IEP) writing and case management
- Ability to foster productive partnerships with parents and external service providers
