Job Title: INTERVENTION TEACHER Classification: Full-Time, Salary Exempt Reports To: Crew Culture Leader or Principal
SUMMARY:
To provide targeted, data-informed intervention instruction that accelerates student learning and closes academic gaps in math and English language arts. The Intervention Teacher (Lead Teacher) designs and delivers high-quality lessons, collaborates with a supporting teacher, and fosters a positive and inclusive environment. This role is essential in supporting AXL Academy's academic achievement goals and ensuring equitable access to learning for all students.
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:Instructional Planning and Delivery
- Design and implement standards-aligned lessons based on current student data.
- Share lesson plans and instructional materials with the supporting teacher at least one week in advance.
- Facilitate whole group, small group, and individualized instruction that engages and challenges learners.
- Coordinate lesson flow, classroom expectations, and routines in alignment with the supporting teacher.
- Utilize technology and diverse instructional tools to differentiate learning and support diverse learners.
Collaboration and Professional Engagement
- Actively collaborate with the supporting teacher to co-plan, reflect, and adjust instruction based on student needs.
- Participate in scheduled PLCs and designated planning times to ensure instructional alignment and shared accountability.
- Communicate respectfully and directly with colleagues, following AXL's collaboration and conflict resolution protocols.
- Seek feedback and support from Crew Culture Leaders or supervisors when alignment or clarity is needed.
- Attend professional development sessions and contribute to the instructional culture of the school.
Scholar Engagement and Behavior
- Create and maintain a focused, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Proactively manage student behavior, including phone usage, in accordance with AXL's school-wide expectations.
- Build strong, positive relationships with students to promote belonging, motivation, and effort.
- Provide timely and specific feedback to scholars and adjust instruction based on observed progress.
Data, Documentation, and Communication
- Monitor and document student progress using ongoing formative assessments, screeners, and benchmarks.
- Maintain accurate records and share data with grade-level teams, administrators, and families as appropriate.
- Use data to inform flexible groupings, targeted supports, and instructional next steps.
- Communicate regularly with families and general education teachers about academic progress and intervention goals.

Qualification Requirements:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Valid Colorado teaching license or eligibility in a core content area or intervention field
- Experience supporting students with diverse academic needs
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- CLDE certification (required for all teachers hired 2021–22 or later)
Preferred:
- Experience with targeted reading and math intervention strategies
- Familiarity with progress monitoring tools, screeners, and MTSS frameworks
- Background in Expeditionary Learning or project-based instruction
- Bilingual or multilingual proficiency
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and classroom equipment; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. This position may involve indoor and outdoor instructional duties.
