Position Summary:
To maintain, repair, troubleshoot, install, or replace plant instrument and controls equipment. Perform new construction and/or modification in conformance with national electrical code requirements and PSM facility practices.
Reports to I&E Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Work with computerized maintenance system (CMMS) and have excellent computer skills
- Safety and security conscious and become familiar with plant processes/operations.
- Troubleshooting, servicing and repair of motor control interlocks, field instruments (pressure, temperature, level, flow, etc.) control valves (rebuild, repack, stroke, calibrate positioner, etc), PLCs, plant shutdown systems (logic), single loop controllers, DCS (Delta V).
- Ability to utilize diagnostic test equipment for repairs of instruments and analyzers.
- May also assist with basic mechanical maintenance functions as needed.
- Willingness to work call-ins, holidays and overtime as required.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, schematics, one-lines, P&IDs, work instructions to perform required repairs, maintenance, and services.
Major Challenges:
- Majority of work is in outside environment, ability to work from a ladder and lift as required
- As a Training facility, journeymen must show willingness to train and work with apprentices.
- Working knowledge of safe electrical work practices including NFPA 70E, LOTO, and the NEC.
- Dedicated, self-motivated team member, willing and able to work independently and in a team system.
Requirements:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Oregon General Journeyman Electrical license, or Limited Manufacturing Electrical license (Plant Journeymen), or ability to get one through reciprocating states, Idaho, Washington, Utah, Montana, Arkansas, Wyoming, and Maine.
Experience:
- Minimum 3yrs experience electrical/instrumentation installation and maintenance
- Strong preventative maintenance background in a manufacturing environment is preferred
Technical:
- Strong knowledge of medium voltage, relay logic, field input and output devices, pneumatic controls, and motors
Work Environment & Physical Conditions:
- Ability to wear and care for applicable personal protective equipment (such as, safety glasses and shoes, respirator, hard hat and ear protection, safety harness) as required by site specific requirements Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical data.
- Ability to work with and around various chemicals, lubricants, and temperatures common to a chemical processing facility.
- Ability to troubleshoot process problems and take the proper steps to resolve. Should possess the ability to develop ideas on plant process efficiency improvements.
- Ability to cope with multiple priorities. Able to function under pressure. Working knowledge of maintenance tools and their proper use.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders to gain access to equipment.
- Must be capable of working from heights.
