The Surgery Scheduler will play a vital role in coordinating urology surgical procedures within a medium-sized team of 6-15 members. This position involves scheduling approximately 250 procedures monthly, working primarily from inbound calls and emails. The Scheduler also supports several administrative tasks such as admissions, check-in/out, and accounts payable with a strong emphasis on maintaining HIPAA and OSHA compliance. The role operates during standard business hours (Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm) and requires close daily collaboration with medical professionals in a fast-paced facility housing over 100 doctors.
Responsibilities
- Schedule urology surgeries using dedicated surgery scheduling software and EHR systems
- Assist with patient admissions, check-in, and check-out processes
- Manage accounts payable tasks related to surgery scheduling
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA and OSHA standards across all duties
- Handle procedure schedules monthly via inbound communications
- Collaborate daily with medical staff and support team members
- Perform additional assigned duties as needed within the floating role
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in surgery scheduling
- Completion of an approved medical assistant training program with current certification
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus, not required
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and time management skills
