X-RAY TECHNOLOGISTX-ray technicians take x-rays of patients' internal anatomy to aid Physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. They explain x-ray procedures to patients and ensure that patients are exposed to limited amounts of radiation.
- Follow instruction from Physicians regarding which area of the patient's body needs imaging.
- Talk the patient through the procedure and answer questions to lower their anxiety
- Correctly position the patient, adjust the imaging equipment to the specified position
- Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure both to themselves and to the patient.
- Follow correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding
- Keep good patient records
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification as a radiologic technologist from an accredited institution
- Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- National and local license to practice as a radiologic technologist within the country and locality of employment
- In-depth knowledge of radiology protocols and imaging equipment
- Ability to work with the general public and provide a high standard of patient care
- Familiarity with radiology software
- CPR OR BLS certification ( AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION)
