Position Summary
The Driver Recruiter is responsible for sourcing, screening, and hiring qualified CDL drivers to meet the company’s transportation needs. This position plays a vital role in building and maintaining a strong driver workforce by developing effective recruiting strategies, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations, and delivering an excellent candidate experience from initial contact through onboarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, attract, and recruit qualified CDL Class A and Class B drivers through various channels (online job boards, social media, referrals, and industry events).
- Screen applicants for qualifications, work history, driving record, and overall fit with company culture.
- Conduct phone interviews and assist in coordinating in-person or virtual interviews.
- Verify driver qualifications and documentation (CDL, MVR, employment history, PSP, DAC, etc.).
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process from application to hire, ensuring all steps are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of candidates in the applicant tracking system (ATS) or internal database.
- Collaborate with dispatch, safety, and operations teams to forecast driver needs and meet hiring targets.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company hiring standards.
- Develop creative recruiting campaigns to attract new drivers and reduce turnover.
- Assist with driver onboarding and orientation as needed.
- Provide regular updates and reports on recruiting activity and performance metrics.
