A day in the life
From first piece to final inspection, you turn engineering concepts into flight‑ready components. You’ll arrive to clear work instructions and detailed blueprints, select tooling and fixtures that fit the job, dial in your setup, and verify critical features with precision instruments. Throughout the run, you’ll watch your dimensions, tweak offsets, document results, and keep the cell organized and safe while partnering with teammates to hit schedule commitments.
What you’ll do
- Set up and run both manual and CNC lathes to produce precision parts to spec.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job travelers to plan your work.
- Choose appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each assignment.
- Continuously monitor machining to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Conduct in‑process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Make offsets and minor mechanical adjustments as needed to hold tolerance.
- Keep your area clean and safe in line with company safety practices.
- Record production data and promptly escalate any issues to supervision.
- Collaborate with teammates to meet production schedules and priorities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Hands‑on experience with manual and/or CNC lathe operation preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
- Working knowledge of machining methods, tooling, and materials.
- Strong attention to detail with a quality‑first mindset.
- Capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
