Key Responsibilities:

Punctual regular in-office attendance at assigned shifts
-
Collaborate closely with the rest of the Behavioral Health team, including the psychology department and counseling team to ensure patients are seen timely and by the right personnel

Ensure the psychiatrist’s documents, labs, and records are set up appropriately for physician review and management
-
Ensure the psychiatrist’s daily and weekly schedules are managed and correct, in collaboration with the scheduling team and the local office managers
-
Work with the provider to ensure billing is completed by the end of each day
-
Help ensure appropriate follow-up is scheduled for the patient be that back with the psychiatry department or with the patient’s referring PCP
-
Help set up collaborative or consultative phone calls between PCPs at CMC and with the psychiatrist
-
Triage patients and take vital signs

Document of all patient care in electronic medical record (EMR)

Complete patient paperwork including prior authorizations, home health paperwork, medical supply paperwork, etc., working with the Cahaba Access team to ensure the appropriate PAs or precerts have been completed prior to a patient visit

Assist provider with:

Reviewing and scheduling referrals
-
Reconciling medications and allergies for each patient at each clinical encounter ○ E-prescribing medications once the appropriate changes to the medicines have been made by the provider.

Schedule consultation appointments or imaging appointments for patients

Respond to patient messages, schedule appointments and procedures
-
Clean and stock rooms and ensure the clinical space is ready each day for patient care

Perform patient tests and screenings, including x-rays, upon satisfactory assessment of competency

Work through assigned tasks in EMR
-
Communicate with other physician offices, patients, and other ancillary health care offices like pharmacies at the direction of the providers
Qualifications:
-
Satisfactory completion of CMCF Medical Assistant Training Program
-
Certified Medical Assistant preferred but not required
-
Experience in a medical office desired
-
Excellent customer service and phone communication skills
-
Basic experience with computers
-
Ability to manage time, multitask, and handle high stress environments
-
Reliable transportation and ability to travel to each clinic the psychiatrist is assigned to work
