Job Description

Global Science & Technology is seeking high-level analytical, policy, and organizational support to a NOAA senior political leader. The position ensures the executive has timely, accurate, and actionable information to make informed decisions affecting NOAA's mission, strategic priorities, interagency engagements, and external communications. This position serves as a trusted advisor, coordinating across NOAA Line Offices, the Department of Commerce, and external partners to advance the executive's policy agenda and operational objectives.

This position has been approved for a hybrid work schedule but work out of the Washington, D.C. office.

Primary Duties:

A. Executive Policy and Decision Support

  • Conduct research, analysis, and synthesis of complex policy, operational, scientific, and programmatic issues.
  • Prepare decision papers, briefing materials, talking points, issue summaries, and executive memos.
  • Develop recommendations, options, and risk assessments to support strategic and time-sensitive decision-making.
  • Monitor emerging issues, legislation, and stakeholder interests relevant to the executive's portfolio.

B. Strategic Planning and Coordination

  • Coordinate cross-agency and internal NOAA activities to ensure alignment with executive priorities.
  • Track and manage priority tasks, initiatives, and engagements to ensure timely execution and follow-through.
  • Facilitate communication between senior leadership, subject-matter experts, and external partners.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

A Bachelor's degree with emphasis on international relations, science or technology policy, or environmental management.

Salary at GST is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range or this position and is just one component of the GST total compensation package for employees.
