Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Located in North Charleston, SC, this opportunity offers a rewarding role for an experienced Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing students within a K-12 educational setting. This contract position supports the Continuation School Year (CSY) calendar, providing specialized instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of students with hearing impairments.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized and group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across K-12 grade levels
- Developing and adapting curriculum to acmodate auditory and munication needs
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including speech therapists, audiologists, and general education staff
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records of educational outes
- Providing guidance and support to students and families to promote academic and social development
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure in teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Experience working with K-12 students within a specialized educational setting
- Strong munication skills, including proficiency in sign language or other relevant munication methods
- Ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborative approach to working with educators, families, and support staff
