Concrete Project Manager: Job Description
A concrete project manager is responsible for the complete oversight and successful execution of concrete construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to specified quality standards. This includes coordinating self-performed concrete crews and subcontractors, managing resources, and serving as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders on concrete scope.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans and ensure meticulous field execution. Manage construction and maintenance of concrete production sites, roads, or structures.
Resource Management: Source, direct, and align manpower, dispatch equipment, procure materials, and schedule work to meet project goals.
Team Oversight: Supervise field teams, vendors, and subcontractors; promote a culture of safety and professionalism. Conduct training of staff and coordinate with general contractors and project managers on sequencing and scheduling.
Client & Vendor Relations: Maintain robust customer relationships and communicate with clients throughout the project lifecycle. Manage vendor pricing and contracts.
Quality & Compliance: Monitor quality control, ensure OSHA and environmental safety compliance, and uphold company standards for processes and designs.
Financial Management: Monitor budgets, profit and loss statements, control costs, and ensure financial success of concrete projects.
Planning & Scheduling: Oversee and facilitate site planning meetings. Track company resource usage and equipment maintenance.
Reporting: Review production reports, analyze performance metrics, and recommend improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: Degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 7 years in the construction industry, with proven expertise in concrete project management or project engineer roles.
Certifications: Construction-specific credentials like OSHA Safety Certification, ACI certifications are valuable.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with specialized software (Procore, Autodesk, Primavera P6) for project tracking and resource management.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and resolve conflicts under pressure.
Communication: Strong skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
