About the Company
As the Lead Advisor at our client—an industry-leading, rapidly expanding RIA—you will work directly with a dynamic leader who is stepping back from day-to-day operations to focus on CEO-level strategy. You will be the lead advisor for the relationships previously managed by the CEO. This is an in office 5 day a week role.
About the Role
To enable this shift, our client is seeking a great, highly skilled financial advisor to take over an assigned book of UHNW clients within a defined succession. You will serve as the primary advisor and the connective force between clients, the advisory team, and specialists—leading sophisticated capital markets and comprehensive planning conversations to ensure a high-touch, seamless transition and sustained growth.
Responsibilities
- Act as an experienced advisor managing existing UHNW client relationships by conducting review meetings and meetings with qualified leads (generated by the firm or self-generated).
- Oversee core UHNW client relationships with significant revenue impact, handling client service questions and needs; request support for meeting preparation as needed based on capacity.
- Conduct client review meetings and all other meeting types for Senior Advisors’ top clients and other assigned firm clients.
- Discuss comprehensive financial plans and advanced planning vehicles appropriate for complex UHNW situations, including the income, gift, and estate tax implications of each planning strategy under consideration.
- Coordinate the full planning process with clients and their external advisors (e.g., CPAs, attorneys, trustees) to ensure integrated, multi-generational outcomes.
- Contribute to business development and lead generation through referral-based marketing, COI relationship development, and additional targeted marketing activities; success in these areas will be rewarded.
- Potentially develop new client relationships and/or train and supervise other staff members as part of team leadership.
Qualifications
- 8+ years advising UHNW clients; proven track record of retaining and growing complex relationships.
- Advanced planning expertise; comfort with tax, estate, trust, and philanthropic coordination.
- Investment acumen across public and private markets; familiarity with alternatives and concentrated stock strategies.
- Series 65 or CFP is required, designations such asCFA, CPA or JD/LLM are a bonus.
- Exceptional communication, discretion, and client service orientation; strong compliance record.
Required Skills
- Lead, manage, and engage directly with a designated group of UHNW clients to best support their financial, investment, estate, and risk outcomes; be directly responsible for retention and relationship depth with assigned key clients.
- Communicate proactively to understand client needs, objectives, goals, concerns, and planning tools; represent the client with internal stakeholders and external partners to carry out their service goals. Ensure all inbound client communications are handled promptly and professionally.
- Provide guidance and expert advice to management, clients, and external parties on technical financial planning and investment topics, systems, and process-related matters relevant to UHNW households.
- Review client investments on a quarterly or semiannual basis to confirm required actions have been taken and that portfolios align with policy, liquidity, tax, and risk considerations.
- Analyze information and evaluate results to determine the best solutions for client or operational issues, taking accountability for decisions and outcomes.
- Identify concerns, risks, or opportunities within client accounts or households and update, correct, or escalate information proactively to protect the client relationship and firm standards.
