Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer with 10+ years of existing building's experience. The work will include field investigations, structural analysis and design, interaction with clients, and other design and construction professionals. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects involving steel, concrete, timber and masonry, including historical restoration and renovation of existing buildings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Completes feasibility studies by studying project concepts, objectives, priorities, and requirements; conducting site investigations; identifying and establishing performance standards; preparing construction documents and submittals.
- Organizes structural engineering design project by identifying short-term and long-range issues; preparing timetables, cost estimates, and required resources.
- Verifies and supports construction by performing compliance inspections and tests; resolving construction problems related to structural design; coordinating and conferring with construction and production contractors.
- Documents structural design and maintenance by recording design features and maintenance requirements, and warnings; detailing safety requirements.
- Direct contractors and testing companies during investigative test phase(s).
- Determine appropriate solutions within budgetary constraints.
- Develop comprehensive plans, details and specifications for bidding (understanding of MA Public Bidding Laws required).
- Oversee bidding process (both public and private).
- Construction administration, including field/ site visits and ability to solve problems that may arise during construction.
- Project Manager responsibilities include monthly billing review, approval/ disapproval of vendor invoices, budget, schedule, resource and job cost monitoring.
- Work in conjunction with other Project Managers and staff to assist with unique structural-related issues.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
Minimum BS in Civil/Structural Engineering and professional registration required.
Experienced with AutoCAD and computer aided analysis/design of structures is required.
Strong oral and written communication skills also required.
