Job Title: Safety & Sustainability Analyst

This role is a part of the larger Mission department and will work cross-functionally with teams including Regulatory Affairs, Product Development, Packaging, Customer Experience, and Communications.
Responsibilities:
Manage Counter’s successful engagement with select third-party certifications and programs.
· Own review of formulas and trade materials against Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) VERIFIED program standards.
· Lead internal stakeholder meetings and trainings on EWG Verified and EWG Skin Deep program requirements, and track Counter’s portfolio performance in the Verified program.
· Manage Counter’s Leaping Bunny certification by executing required certification submissions, relaying program requirements internally, and ensuring contract manufacturers remain in good standing with the program.
· Own How2Recycle packaging submissions, tracking, and internal communications.
· Help track Counter product and contract manufacturer status related to Roundtable on Responsibly Sourced Palm Oil (RSPO).
· Support Counter’s participation in the Chemical Footprint Project.
Manage Safety extensive ingredient and product testing programs.
· Solicit information from third-party testing labs to support brand testing needs including quotes, methodologies, and timing.
· Lead test sample submissions and track test results for all testing initiated by the Safety Team.
· Track and organize Safety Team test data to support key learnings and opportunities regarding trade materials, formulas, packaging, ingredient and packaging suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
Coordinate Mission-related public- and customer-facing content development.
· Triage all Mission-related customer inquiries to relevant internal subject matter experts.
· Lead quarterly check-ins with Customer Experience team to identify Mission-related trends and funnel insights and learnings to Counter Leadership.
· Ensure Mission-related products claims are consistently represented across all Counter public- and customer-facing communications.
· Develop and maintain tracker of external advocacy, corporate, and other campaigns and programs that directly or indirectly impact Counter efforts to advance clean beauty.
Brief Mission leadership on these external activities, identifying potential opportunities and risks for Counter.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required preferably in chemistry, environmental science, sustainability, or related program.
- At least 2 years of experience with multi-team projects preferably related to chemicals or product certifications and management.
- Dedication to Counter’s mission with an interest in beauty consumer, market, and industry trends.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills.
- Strong time management skills with an ability to flex between regular and fast track/opportunistic timelines.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
