Job DescriptionWe are looking for a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team in Sparks, Maryland. In this contract role, you will play a vital part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of accounting processes. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication to support various financial functions.
Responsibilities:
• Process accounts payable by reviewing requisition forms, verifying documentation, and entering vendor information.
• Manage accounts receivable and cash receipts, ensuring timely deposits and accurate ledger entries.
• Coordinate with the Development Office to properly record donations and gifts.
• Handle student billing by recording tuition payments, preparing reports, and entering incidental charges.
• Generate invoices for facility rentals and barn fees, while maintaining proper records and following up on outstanding accounts.
• Assist in the preparation of year-end tax documents and reports.
• Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger entries to ensure accuracy.
• Support monthly and year-end financial audits by preparing necessary documentation.
• Review financial transactions and maintain compliance with corporate tax regulations.
• Perform account reconciliations to resolve discrepancies and maintain financial integrity.• Proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.
• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and conducting month-end reconciliations.
• Familiarity with tax regulations, including corporate tax returns and sales tax.
• Strong skills in financial audits and account reconciliations.
• Ability to analyze and process facility rental and billing transactions.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with various teams.
• Experience with financial software and database systems.
