Assistant Infant Teacher Job Description

Position: Assistant Infant Teacher
Reports To: Academy Director

Position Summary

The Assistant Infant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants (6 weeks to 12 months). This position follows all **Colorado Office of Early Childhood (OEC) licensing regulations and helps ensure the daily care, supervision, and development of each child.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all infants
* Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily routines and activities
* Help with feeding, diapering, and maintaining proper hygiene practices
* Follow safe sleep policies in accordance with Colorado regulations
* Maintain required staff-to-child ratios at all times
* Supervise infants during play, rest, and transitions
* Help keep the classroom clean, organized, and sanitized
* Assist with documenting daily activities (feeding, diapering, naps)
* Communicate respectfully with families and team members
* Step into lead responsibilities when needed under supervision.

Required Certifications
* Must complete PDIS trainings
* CPR & First Aid (Infant/Child) certification (or willingness to obtain)
* Universal Precautions training
* Background check and fingerprinting per Colorado regulations
* Must be at least 20 years of age

Skills & Competencies

* Warm, nurturing, and patient demeanor
* Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team
* Basic understanding of infant care and development
* Strong communication skills

Physical Requirements

* Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
* Frequent bending, sitting on the floor, and active engagement with children
* Ability to respond quickly to infants needs
