The Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine will guide a team of board-certified specialists at our organization, managing advanced clinical initiatives and both inpatient and outpatient services. This position encompasses strategic leadership, faculty development, quality enhancement, and promoting academic and community involvement, all while prioritizing equity and high-quality healthcare. This influential role requires clinical proficiency, experience in program development, and a dedication to serving a diverse patient demographic within a large municipal health system.
We are excited to announce an opening for a Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine to join our committed team at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. This leading facility handles over 325,000 outpatient visits, 100,000 emergency room visits, and 20,000 inpatient admissions each year, catering to a diverse community with various healthcare needs.
Jacobi Medical Center has robust academic partnerships with both Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the CUNY School of Medicine, providing an enriching environment for education and professional development. The center also features a distinguished medical residency program and hosts two Critical Care Fellows rotating from Montefiore.

POSITION DETAILS:
In this role, you will lead a skilled team of 18 board-certified Pulmonary/Critical Care physicians, overseeing a wide array of services across two hospitals:
- 12-bed Medical Intensive Care Units (MICUs) at both locations, along with an 8-bed step-down unit.
- Active Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program (V-A & V-V).
- Advanced Bronchoscopy Suite featuring the Ion Robot.
- Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) and Biopsy Program.
- Innovative Lung Cancer Screening Program, closely integrated with Thoracic Surgery, Oncology, Pathology, and Radiology.
- Dedicated clinics for Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) and Pulmonary Hypertension (PHT).
- Dynamic Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Program.
- Modern Outpatient Procedure Area fully staffed and supported.
- Provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across inpatient and outpatient Pulmonary and Critical Care services at both campuses.
- Oversee faculty development, recruitment, and retention.
- Promote excellence in clinical outcomes, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety.
- Drive educational programs for medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and uphold the organization’s ICARE values: Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
- Lead Team-Based Care in both the Jacobi and North Central Bronx Medical Intensive Care Units.

Compensation and Benefits include:
Annual Base Salary: $342,000* based on a 40-hour work week.
The total estimated annual compensation package is approximately $416,200**, which encompasses the base salary, 401(k) contributions, and other factors outlined below:
- Potential bonus of up to $40,000 (based on the previous year’s average), contingent upon achieving quality and productivity goals.
- 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS limits):
- Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings, with no employee match required.
- After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings, with no employee match required.
- Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
- Generous Annual Paid Time Off (PTO): Vacation, Sick, Holiday.
- Medical, Prescription, and Dental Coverage: Premium plans with employee contributions significantly below market rates.
