Job Overview:

The Switcher safely moves trailers to and from the warehouse dock to yard locations in a timely and professional manner with daily reports

Duties and responsibilities:

· Safely operate switcher trucks to move trailers within the facility.

· Coordinate with dispatch and yard personnel to prioritize trailer movements.

· Inspect trailers for damage and report any issues to maintenance.

· Maneuver trailers into loading docks for loading and unloading.

· Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and locations.

· Communicate effectively with other drivers and yard personnel.

· Adhere to all safety protocols and traffic regulations.

· Assist with yard organization and cleanliness as needed.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

● Class A CDL. 1 Year experience

● Safe driving record (MVR, CSA, and previous employment).

● Ability to pass DOT pre-employment drug screening and meet DOT medical requirements.

● Experience operating switcher trucks or similar equipment preferred.

● Current DOT physical.

● Familiarity with transportation and logistics operations.

● Ability to lift 50lbs.

● Ability to operate vehicles safely in a fast-paced environment.

● Good communication skills and teamwork abilities.

● Attention to detail and adherence to safety procedures.

● Physical stamina for prolonged periods of sitting and operating vehicles.

Physical Demands:

· Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and feet to operate vehicles, adjust controls, and manage equipment.

· Heavy Lifting: Occasional lifting, carrying, and securing of cargo, which may exceed 50 pounds.

· Navigation and Attention: Continuous focus on driving and navigation, requiring high levels of concentration and situational awareness.

· Exposure to Weather: Work involves exposure to various weather conditions during loading and unloading operations.

· Climbing and Balancing: Climbing into and out of the truck cab and trailer, as well as balancing to secure cargo.

· Health and Safety Compliance: Adherence to safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment as necessary.
