Excavator Operator
Pay: $35-$42/hr based on experience
Travel: Extensive Overnight Travel required
Summary:
An established underground construction contractor is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to support utility installation and trenchless operations across regional projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate track excavators and related heavy equipment on utility construction sites
- Perform excavation, material handling, loading/unloading, and rigging
- Execute deep excavations using trench boxes, shoring systems, and sheeting
- Maintain safe excavation practices, including protection of personnel and existing utilities
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and follow all site safety requirements
- Work closely with field supervision to complete work safely and efficiently
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of excavator or heavy equipment operating experience
- Ability to read plans and adapt to field conditions
- Strong safety awareness and team-oriented mindset
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting to 50 lbs.
Preferred:
- Experience in trenchless construction methods
- Welding ability: must be able to pass a weld test if required
- CDL (preferred, not required)
Travel Requirements
- Travel to project sites required, including overnight stays
- Work primarily throughout Maryland and surrounding areas
