Job Title: Director of Human Resources

Location: Onsite – Virginia Beach, VA

Travel Required: Approximately 30%, or as needed


Position Overview:

The Director of Human Resources is a strategic leadership position focused on aligning workforce initiatives with broader business goals across a North American footprint. This role is instrumental in driving enterprise-wide HR projects and supporting long-term organizational growth through scalable HR practices. The Director will collaborate with internal stakeholders and HR partners to enhance organizational effectiveness, support major change initiatives, and ensure an exceptional employee experience across multiple locations in the U.S. and Canada.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement standardized HR processes and workflows, supported by clear documentation including job aids and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Lead change management initiatives by developing effective communication plans to drive alignment and engagement.
  • Execute strategic HR projects such as workforce planning, organizational design, and succession planning in partnership with internal business leaders.
  • Analyze HR project results and recommend data-informed strategies to optimize future initiatives.
  • Create and present executive-level materials, including reports, presentations, and data visualizations to support informed decision-making.
  • Champion enterprise-wide people strategies that align with both short-term priorities and long-term objectives.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on employee relations, culture, and employee engagement practices.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on performance management, employee development, and disciplinary actions.
  • Foster employee engagement, retention, and productivity through targeted initiatives and relationship-building.
  • Ensure HR programs are fully compliant with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Lead the HR component of M&A activity, including due diligence, cultural integration, workforce transition planning, and communication strategy.
  • Create and refine tools to streamline future M&A processes and mitigate organizational risk.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion through actionable strategies and measurable outcomes aligned with organizational goals.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience, with a strong focus on HR project management, M&A, and organizational strategy.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms (Workday preferred).
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and to Canada up to 30–50%.
  • Proven experience managing HR efforts across a multi-site, distributed workforce.


Key Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of HR disciplines such as employee relations, organizational development, performance management, and employment law.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Strong analytical thinking and data interpretation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead HR projects in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment.


Working Conditions:

This role is primarily based in an office environment with regular business hours, with one remote workday per week as approved. Travel to other company locations is required based on business needs.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and move between office locations.
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 15 pounds.
  • Standard office equipment use, including computer, phone, and printer.
  • Visual and auditory capabilities sufficient for reading documentation and communicating effectively.
