Position Overview
The Financial Reporting Manager will lead the preparation, review and delivery of accurate, timely external and internal financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP. This role is responsible for managing the month-end and close process, ensuring strong internal controls, coordinating audits, and providing financial analysis to support decision-making. The ideal candidate is a CPA with deep financial reporting expertise and experience supervising accounting teams, with preference given to those with healthcare, hospital, nonprofit or public accounting backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, footnotes and disclosures in accordance with GAAP.
- Own the month-end and close process, ensuring timely account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Manage and mentor a team of accountants; delegate tasks, review work and support professional development.
- Coordinate external and internal audits, serve as primary contact for auditors and ensure timely delivery of audit schedules and responses.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting and ensure compliance with AICPA and other professional standards.
- Monitor FASB pronouncements and collaborate with leadership to implement new accounting standards and disclosure requirements.
- Prepare analysis to support budgeting, forecasting and management reporting; present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Drive process improvements and system enhancements to increase accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (finance, operations, clinical leadership) to ensure reporting aligns with business drivers and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong emphasis on financial reporting; supervisory experience preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in Financial Reporting and account reconciliations, including preparation of complex journal entries and reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience applying FASB standards; ability to interpret new accounting guidance.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Experience in healthcare, hospital, nonprofit or not-for-profit accounting is highly desirable.
- Public accounting experience, especially in audit or financial statement engagements, is a plus.
- Familiarity with AICPA guidance and audit processes; experience coordinating external audits.
- Excellent technical accounting skills, strong attention to detail, and proven problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communicator with the ability to present financial information to technical and non-technical audiences and collaborate across functions.
