Job Description
The Medical Assistant will support a single physician by rooming 18-22 patients daily. Responsibilities include conducting full workups on patients, obtaining previous medical histories, taking manual vitals, performing blood draws, and reconciling medications. This role focuses on serving patients aged 55 and older, particularly in underserved communities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct full patient workups, including obtaining previous medical history and taking manual vitals.
- Perform blood draws using both straight needle and butterfly techniques.
- Reconcile patient medications.
- Provide compassionate care to a patient demographic primarily aged 55 and older.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with blood draw techniques, including straight needle and butterfly.
- High school diploma or equivalent education (GED).
- Graduation from a nationally accredited program in Medical Assisting, Patient Care Technology, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic.
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, EMT, or Paramedic.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with geriatric patients is advantageous.
- Familiarity with EMR systems is preferred.
Work Environment
The Medical Assistant will work a schedule of either 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The work environment involves rooming 18-22 patients daily, with appointments scheduled at 30-minute intervals.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
