We are growing and are looking for a Retail Strategy Communications Manager! The Retail Strategy Communications Manager will transform Cosmos’ strategic insights into compelling, actionable stories for our retail partners. This individual will not be responsible for formulating company strategy but will play a critical role in translating existing strategy into clear, persuasive messaging that resonates with retailers and enables them to act on our recommendations and will work cross-functionally to ensure customer-specific marketing needs and presentation materials are accurate, compelling, and retailer-ready.

  • Translate Strategy into Actionable Stories – Collaborate with internal teams to interpret company strategy and create compelling narratives that help retail partners optimize assortments and category performance.
  • Sales Presentation Development – Develop and design persuasive PowerPoint decks that clearly communicate insights, trends, and merchandising recommendations, ensuring adaptability across diverse customer types.
  • Consultative Selling Support – Equip the sales team to deliver data-driven insights and strategies by providing frameworks and training on effective communication with retail partners.
  • Category & Retail Analysis – Maintain a deep understanding of the competitive retail landscape and use market data to inform strategic recommendations aligned with business objectives.
  • Problem Solving & Strategy Application – Apply creative thinking to translate complex challenges into practical, actionable solutions for retailers.
  • Internal Training & Knowledge Sharing – Provide new and existing sales staff with the tools to understand, present, and leverage data and insights in their customer conversations.
  • Channel Marketing & Messaging Support – Enhance, edit, and create customer-specific marketing language to support channel team requests, ensuring messaging is clear, compelling, and aligned with brand and strategic priorities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with product, formulation, and consumer insights teams to gather accurate, relevant information and translate it into clear, customer-ready materials for the channel team.

Requirements:

You will hold a Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. You will also have 3 to 5 years of experience in merchandising, communications, marketing, category management or account management within retail, CPG manufacturing or a related industry, ideally with exposure to pet products or CPG.

  • You’re proficient in the Microsoft suite, specifically PowerPoint, with the ability to create visually compelling presentations that are consistent with our strategic message and adaptable across different retail clients.
  • You have strong communication skills with the ability to train and mentor sales teams on how to effectively communicate insights.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or equivalent preferred.


Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

A Day In The Life

A Retail Strategy Communications Manager plays a key role in crafting persuasive narratives that connect product strategies to retailer needs. A typical day would be spent balancing meetings with channel, portfolio team, and senior management to align on strategy, gather insights, and refine messaging, as well as collaborating with the data and consumer insights team to integrate key learnings. Much of their time is dedicated to developing customized PowerPoint presentations, tailoring messages for each retailer, shaping compelling storylines, and working with the design team to refine visuals. They also review and refine presentations based on internal feedback and prepare for key deadlines, primarily retailer line reviews and new product launches. Occasionally, they attend presentations to support sales teams and gather buyer feedback, and they also help train internal teams on effective storytelling and presentation delivery. Additional marketing support duties will be sprinkled in from time to time as needed to support customer specific projects.


Every Wednesday, you will head to the lunchroom at 11:40 a.m. for the weekly Cosmos Minute, where the entire company meets at 11:45 a.m. to learn about other team members and special company announcements at Cosmos.
