The principal duty of all employees is to assist in the mission of the Church in the Diocese of Fort Worth. Ministry Description: The Receptionist will be responsible for warm greeting to all who enter the office, maintaining the front desk duties and overseeing the parish calendar. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask, and a vibrant and active faith life. They will have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. As well, the individual will promote discipleship among parishioners as they share their time and their talents.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Keep the Pastor informed of parish activities, concerns, and communications.
  • Screen and prioritize communication; maintain confidentiality in all sensitive matters.
  • Coordinate logistics for Baptisms with the Deacon.
  • Assist with hospitality arrangements for clergy and guests.
  • Answer and direct calls, greet visitors, and respond to parish inquiries.
  • Train office substitutes and ensure a welcoming, organized front desk environment.
  • Attend staff meetings and complete special projects assigned by the Pastor or Business Manager.
  • Send bulletin updates, order office supplies and stay current on incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Schedule Mass intentions and Baptisms; prepare Mass cards and weekly intention lists. Foster cooperation and communication among parish staff, ministries, and parishioners.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion, making mission-aligned decisions when representing the parish.
  • Coordinate Prayers of the Faithful and related liturgical content.
  • Maintain and report Mass attendance and stipends.
  • Handle, log, and secure parish funds; prepare monthly Mass stipend and financial reports.
  • Provide referrals for parish or community assistance and support charitable outreach.
  • Collaborate with the Business Manager on financial documentation and diocesan reporting.
  • Manage the master parish calendar for liturgies, meetings, and events.
  • Coordinate facility uses and scheduling, ensuring diocesan safe-environment compliance.
  • Collaborate with staff or vendors for repairs or maintenance needs.
  • Support parish and community events, retreats, and celebrations as assigned.

Supervision Given and/or Received:

  • Minimal supervision given to this position from Parish Pastor and/or Business Manager.

  • The Diocese, Pastors, Priests, Business Manager, and employees.


External Contacts:

  • Parishioners, vendors, visitors.


Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • This position works in a typical office environment.
  • Lifting: Safely lifting 20 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Sitting: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Hearing: Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
  • Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Frequent use of computer keyboard
  • Visual Acuity: Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer monitor. Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; expansive reading


Travel Requirements: Infrequent travel, by car, may be required to Diocese Parishes and/or schools.


Education and Experience Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 3 years office experience

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

  • Fluent in Spanish preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and basic internet skills
  • Ability to navigate computer software.
  • Ability to always honor and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Must be personable and able to converse intelligently with visitors, parishioners, and staff.
  • Ability to self-motivate, manage responsibilities, work independently, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and utilize effective time-management techniques
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with staff, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Knowledge of office practices, record keeping techniques, and file maintenance


FLSA Designation: Exempt, PT, 24 hours per week. Onsite.

Schedule: M-W-Th 9-5. Schedule may vary.
