Our client, a well-established retail organization, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their executive leadership team. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving financial strategy, overseeing all accounting and finance functions, and partnering closely with the CEO to support continued growth, operational excellence, and long-term business success.


Position Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the overall financial leadership, strategy, and management of the organization. This individual will oversee all accounting and finance operations while serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team. The ideal candidate brings strong financial acumen, operational expertise, and experience within a multi-location retail, distribution, or inventory-intensive environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team, providing financial guidance and recommendations to support organizational goals and growth initiatives.
  • Lead all accounting and finance functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Treasury Management, Financial Reporting, and General Ledger oversight.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and distribution of monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Oversee year-end close activities, audits, tax reporting, and the preparation of finalized annual financial statements.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and long-range financial plans.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, accounting procedures, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Manage banking relationships, financing arrangements, lender reporting requirements, and treasury operations.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze key business metrics, and identify opportunities to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and cost management.
  • Partner with inventory, purchasing, and operations teams to ensure inventory accuracy and reconciliation between physical inventory and financial records.
  • Oversee inventory counts, cycle count programs, variance investigations, and inventory control processes across multiple locations.
  • Support acquisitions, capital investments, expansion efforts, and other strategic business initiatives through financial analysis and due diligence.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.


Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate is an experienced financial leader with experience in a multi-location retail, distribution, or other inventory-intensive environment. You bring a balance of strategic and hands-on leadership, with the ability to partner with executive leadership on long-term growth initiatives while maintaining oversight of the day-to-day financial operations that drive business performance. You understand the complexities of inventory management, cash flow, financial reporting, and operational partnerships, and have a proven track record of building strong teams, implementing sound financial controls, and supporting organizational growth. Your experience includes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA, CMA, and/or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including experience within a multi-location retail, distribution, or other inventory-intensive organization.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, treasury functions, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with executive leadership to drive business strategy, operational performance, and growth initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and treasury management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and executive leadership skills.


This is a full-time, in-person opportunity located in the Central Coast with opportunity for occasional remote-based work once trained. The reasonable pay range is between $150,000 and $200,000 annually, with up to a 10% discretionary bonus.
