Job Overview
The CT Technologist is responsible for conducting a variety of CAT Scan procedures, prioritizing patient care and ensuring the highest quality of service.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from an A.M.A. accredited Radiography Education program.
- Possession of ARRT or CRT certification and a valid New Jersey License.
Preferred:
- Three years of experience as a staff technologist in a hospital setting, with the ability to work independently.
Scheduling Requirements
- Full-Time Night Shift: 8:30 PM - 7:00 AM at the Morris Cancer Center in New Brunswick, NJ. Responsibilities will also extend to University Hospital and Plum St. Imaging Center, all connected by a bridge.
Essential Functions
- Position patients according to standard operating procedures to obtain required studies.
- Accurately position all anatomical areas as per established protocols.
- Prepare for procedures to ensure timely execution.
- Ensure all necessary equipment is available before starting examinations.
- Under a Radiologist's guidance, instruct and administer cleansing preparations and contrast agents.
- Implement proper radiation protection techniques to safeguard patients and staff.
- Utilize appropriate protective apparel for reproductive organs when visualization is not necessary.
- Transfer and position patients correctly for examinations to achieve desired radiographic outcomes as specified by physicians.
- Assist physicians during examinations.
- Demonstrate competency in administering IV contrast media, including venipuncture, as per radiology policies and under medical supervision.
- Practice sterile techniques to prevent cross-contamination, manage supplies, and maintain cleanliness in the examination room.
- Recommend maintenance for equipment and troubleshoot as needed, keeping accurate maintenance logs.
- Ensure all necessary supplies are stocked in the examination room.
- Manage patient scheduling and ensure a smooth flow of appointments and preparations, including contrast administration.
- Oversee quality control for CAT scan examinations.
- Utilize the computer system in accordance with standard operating procedures:
- Enter studies into RIS and HIS, and track cases.
- Split and correct studies in PACS as required.
- Participate in required in-service training sessions.
- Attend the majority of educational in-services.
- Explain procedures to patients and address any questions prior to starting.
- Complete all necessary documentation before submitting procedures for interpretation.
- Assist in training student technologists.
