Job DescriptionPosition: Optometrist or Ophthalmologist – Veteran Disability Assessments
We are looking for a committed Optometrist or Ophthalmologist to become a part of our team, focusing on conducting medical evaluations for U.S. Veterans as part of the disability benefits process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-person disability assessments for U.S. Veterans.
- Review and interpret electronic medical records through a secure online portal.
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including Visual Field Testing (VFT).
- Accurately document examination results and complete necessary forms for the VA.
- Note: Disability determinations are made by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), not by the provider.
Schedule and Caseload:
- Part-Time: 3-4 days per week.
- Average caseload of 4-6 Veterans per day.
Provided Equipment:
- All necessary tools for documentation, including a computer.
Qualifications:
- A compassionate Optometrist or Ophthalmologist with a commitment to serving the Veteran community.
- Strong analytical abilities for reviewing medical records and assessment data.
- Proficient in electronic documentation and navigating web-based portals.
- Professional and empathetic approach when interacting with Veterans.
- Must hold an active and unrestricted license as an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist.
- Experience in Visual Field Testing (VFT) is required.
