Job DescriptionPosition: Optometrist or Ophthalmologist – Veteran Disability Assessments

We are looking for a committed Optometrist or Ophthalmologist to become a part of our team, focusing on conducting medical evaluations for U.S. Veterans as part of the disability benefits process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-person disability assessments for U.S. Veterans.
  • Review and interpret electronic medical records through a secure online portal.
  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including Visual Field Testing (VFT).
  • Accurately document examination results and complete necessary forms for the VA.
  • Note: Disability determinations are made by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), not by the provider.

Schedule and Caseload:

  • Part-Time: 3-4 days per week.
  • Average caseload of 4-6 Veterans per day.

Provided Equipment:

  • All necessary tools for documentation, including a computer.

Qualifications:

  • A compassionate Optometrist or Ophthalmologist with a commitment to serving the Veteran community.
  • Strong analytical abilities for reviewing medical records and assessment data.
  • Proficient in electronic documentation and navigating web-based portals.
  • Professional and empathetic approach when interacting with Veterans.
  • Must hold an active and unrestricted license as an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist.
  • Experience in Visual Field Testing (VFT) is required.
