Pride Health is hiring a Lab Assistant to support our client’s medical facility based in Houston, TX 77072. This is a 6-7-month assignment (Possibility of extension or conversion) opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!


Position Name: Technical Lab - Lab Assistant

Pay rate: $17.20/hr

Location: Houston, TX 77072

Duration: 6-7-months contract with possible extension

Shift: Tues-Sat 2AM-10:30AM


Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Lab Assistant is responsible for performing various routine laboratory functions with precision and accuracy to support laboratory professionals and ensure efficient production.

Key Responsibilities:

· Sort and receive specimens in the department.

· Prepare specimens at workstations for testing, including:

· Building worklists and aliquoting specimens.

· Checking for clots and fibrin in specimens.

· Inoculation and slide preparation.

· Perform routine instrument maintenance on some lab equipment.

· Prepare reagents and media as needed.

· Conduct weekly radioactive wipe tests.

· Change gas cylinders as required.

· Quality Assurance & Safety Compliance:

· Resolve pending lists and locate missing samples.

· Decontaminate work areas and dispose of biohazardous materials.

· Follow all PPE requirements and adhere to safety regulations.

· Maintain department records and files.

· Record data, including temperature charts.

· Utilize the laboratory computer system and PCs for lab operations.

· Complete training and competency checklists as required.
