What You'll Do
The Sr. Fabrication Manager supervises a high-throughput department with a diverse team specializing in the custom fabrication, manufacturing, repairing, and finishing of wood and metal furniture and fixtures. This position reports to the Director of Operations.
The Day-to-Day
- Oversees all fabrication (woodworking, upholstery, metal working, welding, painting) projects
- Oversees staff to ensure daily production goals are consistently met, and removes capacity constraints through coordination and delivery of materials and supplies
- Performs special projects and designs custom orders as needed to fulfill customer requests
- Maintains daily reports to measure KPIs
- Reviews data to develop and implement corrective action plans or recovery plans as needed
- Develops and monitors budget and scheduling to ensure cost adherence and efficiency
- Manages employee performance to establish expectations; provides instruction, coaching, and feedback
- Identifies, supports, and promotes the discovery of opportunities for continuous improvement
- Must maintain a "hands-on" style and take the lead in technical problem solving efforts
- Enforces all state, federal and OSHA safety practices and procedures and ensures employees receive appropriate safety training
- Coordinates with all departments on special projects
- May be required to oversee installation of high touch jobs
Requirements
- Basic mathematical and statistical skills
- CAD skills and experience is a plus
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or other Lean/Continuous Improvement methodologies
- OSHA General Industry familiarity, as well as EPA air quality standards affecting furniture manufacturing, repair, and paint spray
- Knowledgeable in the methods and techniques of furniture fabrication, repair, and restoration
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Excellent teamwork and teambuilding skills
- Ability to use a computer (Microsoft Office Suite) to read and write reports, respond to emails, etc.
- Ability to manage and direct a diverse staff
