Job DescriptionPosition Overview
A Surgery Center in Santa Barbara is seeking a Full-Time Surgical Technician to support surgeons, anesthesia personnel, RNs, and other surgical staff in delivering high-quality patient care. This role is responsible for assisting before, during, and after surgical procedures while ensuring a safe and efficient operating room environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and the scrub technician role in performing these procedures
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field throughout surgical procedures
- Assemble supplies, instruments, and equipment required for scheduled procedures
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures
- Properly handle, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Assist with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies in the operating room
- Store and stock supplies for easy accessibility during procedures
- Maintain and update instrument tray lists and surgeons’ preference cards
- Adhere to infection control policies, including bloodborne and airborne pathogen protocols
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program required
- NBSTSA certification or equivalent preferred
- Current CPR certification required
- Previous Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience preferred
