Job Summary
Under immediate supervision, the Utility Billing Clerk performs routine accounting and clerical duties related to the processing of utility bills and the maintenance of billing record systems. This position oversees Title Company requests, supports daily financial operations, and provides customer service related to utility accounts.
Normal Shift: 20-25 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday. Daily start and end times are flexible and may vary based on departmental needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to routine customer inquiries regarding utility billing, procedures, and policies
- Manage Title Company requests
- Process utility billing transactions and maintain accurate billing records
- Enter, verify, and retrieve data within City systems
- Prepare and enter customer account adjustments
- Process daily receipts and post transactions to the accounting system
- Maintain records, reports, and files related to assigned duties
- Prepare routine correspondence as needed
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with City safety standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a US citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
- High School graduate or GED certificate and one (1) year of applicable experience.
- Must be able to type 30 wpm, operate a calculator at a production rate of at least 50 ckpm.
- Basic knowledge of office procedures and filing systems.
- Basic knowledge of City computer systems and software.
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.
- Basic customer service skills.
