Job DescriptionSenior General Ledger Accountant
Location: Seattle, WA (Hybrid)
Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Type: 9-month contract
Compensation: $45-$55/hour (DOE)
Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior General Ledger Accountant to support core accounting operations with a strong focus on general ledger ownership and month-end close. This role is ideal for a hands-on accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong GAAP knowledge, and can independently manage reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting activities. CPA is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
- Prepare and review complex journal entries and supporting documentation
- Perform month-end and quarter-end close activities, including account reconciliations
- Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts; investigate and resolve variances
- Assist with preparation of internal and external financial reports
- Support audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries
- Partner with Finance and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies
- Assist with ad hoc projects, clean-up work, and system enhancements as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5-8+ years of general ledger or corporate accounting experience
- CPA not required
- Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting
- Proven experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
- Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a deadline-driven environment
Nice to Have
- Experience in a mid-size or large corporate environment
- Prior contract or project-based accounting experience
- Exposure to system implementations or process improvement initiatives
