Manager of Engineering & Geology
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the development of long and short range mine plans and effectively communicate plans with mine operations.
• Leadership and development of the Mine Technical Team.
• Monitor progress to plans and work with operations as needed to ensure goals are achieved for ore and waste placement.
• Developing operating and capital budgets for Technical Services.
• Oversite of development drilling and updating block model.
• Oversee Life of Mine plan updates and annual resources and reserves report.
• Engineering around pit dewatering and managing geotechnical risks through the applications of technology, mining methods, mine designs and monitoring systems.
• Planning and monitoring tailings storage facility construction and working with Engineer of Record and the Environmental team.
• Oversite of tailings monitoring systems and reporting requirements.
• Work with Environmental team on designing and planning reclamation as needed.
• Other earth works projects as needed.
Required Qualifications for this Position:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mine, Civil or Geological Engineering.
• 15 plus years of experience as a Mine Engineer.
• Open Cut and Base Metals Experience preferred.
• Experience leading technical and operating teams in mining required.
• Must be skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Must have experience in Resources and Reserves Reporting (JORC Competent Person Not Required), Long Term Strategic Mine Planning and Short Term Mine Planning and scheduling.
• Must have practical general knowledge in geology, hydrology and geotechnical areas of mining as needed to effectively manage a multi disciplined team.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Must have experience in AutoCAD, MineSight, or comparable Mine Planning Software.
• Experience working in a continuous improvement culture.
• Valid Driver’s license.
• Proven safe work record.
• Ability to complete work tasks under various adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to be self-directed, team-oriented and work with minimum supervision required.
• Ability to climb stairs/ladders and lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.
