We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. The ideal candidate will perform both clinical and administrative tasks to support our physicians, nurse practitioners, and patients. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys direct patient interaction and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
- Room patients efficiently and courteously; obtain and document accurate medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, oxygen saturation)
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; assist providers during exams, minor procedures, and treatments
- Perform EKGs, pulmonary function, injections, and other point-of-care testing as ordered
- Administer medications and vaccines under provider supervision and per protocol
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens; ensure proper labeling and processing
- Maintain exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and adhere to strict infection control and OSHA standards
- Provide patient education on medications, treatments, and follow-up care
Qualifications & Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Certification: CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), CCMA (NHA), or NCMA (NCCT)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willing to obtain within 30 days)
- 1+ years of experience in a clinical/medical office setting preferred (new graduates with strong externship performance considered)
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (experience with Epic, Athenahealth, or similar a plus)
- Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and basic clinical procedures
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine desire to help patients
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a busy environment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain professionalism under pressure
