Job Title: Design Drafter

Duration: Temp to Hire
Payrate: $28–$32/hr
JOB SUMMARY:
Design and maintain the structural components and mechanical systems for the Aspen Aerials Bridge Inspection Units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Design creative and simple parts as a solution to reduce cost and improve assembly time.
Work with shop personnel to design fixtures.
Consults with engineering and/or technical experts regarding design solutions and design standards
Work with Engineering to generate models and drawings for the development of new Weldments tooling and equipment or to upgrade existing equipment.
Work with Engineering to maintain and revise product drawings as necessary.
Contributes to product development by gathering and analyzing product, customer and operational requirements.
Communicates design information with contract fabricators, production personnel, Purchasing and the service department.
Work with Production personnel on making ongoing changes to product lines using an ECR/ECO process.
Performs part setup and maintenance in ERP system.
Create assembly, weldment and detail drawings.
Completes routine drafting work, such as creating models and drawings of structures and equipment systems derived from layouts and sketches.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCTION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
AA degree in Mechanical Drafting
High proficiency in SolidWorks: part, assembly and drawing creation, existing model and drawing modification and product simulation.
Moderate proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment and interact with sales, service and production department personnel.
Experience with the processes of welding, machining, large mechanical and hydraulics assembly of mobile hydraulic equipment is preferred.
Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills with users of the equipment users, sales, production and service personnel.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works well in office, production plant and outdoor environments.
Capable of climbing ladders and maneuvering on top and underneath truck mounted equipment.
Lift up to 25 lb. Occasionally.
