Job DescriptionSenior Accountant (Non-CPA)

Location: Seattle, WA (Hybrid)
Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Type: 9-month contract
Compensation: $45-$55/hour (DOE)

Job Summary

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations during a contract engagement. This role is ideal for a strong hands-on accountant who is confident owning the close process, preparing financials, and supporting audits-without the requirement of a CPA. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with Finance and Accounting leadership to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute month-end and quarter-end close processes
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and internal reporting
  • Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests
  • Analyze variances and investigate discrepancies
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes and controls
  • Support ad hoc projects as needed (system implementations, clean-up work, reporting enhancements)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 4-7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • CPA not required
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting
  • Experience with month-end close and reconciliations
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas)
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a mid-size or large corporate environment
  • Prior contract or project-based accounting experience
  • Exposure to process improvement or system implementations
