Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to provide specialized educational services for K-12 students within a school district serving the Nashville area (northern suburb). This onsite contract position runs from ASAP through May 20, 2026, offering 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
Location: Joelton, Tennessee (Nashville area suburb)
Position Type: Full-time, Contract, Onsite
Caseload: Kindergarten through 12th grade, varying by assignment and student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across multiple school sites
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ensure implementation of services according to student needs
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Communicate effectively with families, educators, and administrators to promote student success
- Maintain accurate records and comply with district policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Active Tennessee Department of Education teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf/hard of hearing preferred
- Ability to serve multiple campuses with caseloads varying as needed
- Successful completion of district-required background check and fingerprinting
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
