Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee daily manufacturing operations, lead production teams, and ensure the efficient execution of custom manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on technical expertise in plastics manufacturing with proven leadership capabilities and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership & Operations
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities across multiple manufacturing processes including thermoforming, vacuum forming, die cutting, CNC routing, and plastic fabrication
- Plan and schedule production to meet customer requirements and delivery commitments
- Monitor production metrics and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and throughput
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and company policies
Team Management & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop production team members including machine operators, production workers, and leads
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and identify training needs
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Manage staffing levels and coordinate shift coverage to maintain production schedules
Technical Oversight & Problem Solving
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions
- Drive process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and maintenance teams on equipment optimization
- Review and approve production documentation, work orders, and quality records
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all safety procedures are followed
- Conduct safety training and lead incident investigations when necessary
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5+ years in production or manufacturing roles with 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity
- Technical Knowledge: Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes, preferably in plastics, thermoforming, CNC machining, or die cutting
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop production teams
- Safety Focus: Strong understanding of manufacturing safety protocols and OSHA requirements
- Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and implement process improvements
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in custom manufacturing or job shop environments
- Background in plastics processing (thermoforming, vacuum forming, etc.)
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with production planning and scheduling systems
- Knowledge of quality control procedures and inspection methods
