Job Summary:\n-This position is responsible for performing high quality CT procedures.\n-The incumbent will perform a variety of CT procedures employing ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment.\n-The incumbent will use ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.\n\nEssential Job Duties:\n-Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam. \n-Performs exams per department protocol.\n-Understands cross sectional anatomy and demonstrates anatomical positioning competency.\n-Familiar with the ALARA program and follows proper radiation safety protocol.\n-Demonstrates ability to critique own films.\n-Completes studies within acceptable time limitations per department expectations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination.\n-Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of protocol relating to contrast administration. \n-As ordered by the physician and under radiologist/physician supervision administers oral barium products or intravenous contrast material to patients.\n-Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.\n-Provides patient education, as needed and assures patient comfort.\n-Understands and operates all CT equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure that quality images are produced.\n-Exhibits working knowledge of contrast injectors and laser printers.\n-Exhibits understanding and proficiency with electronic imaging. Incumbent will be able to view, transfer and manipulate images.\n-Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.\n-Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtaining consents if necessary, documenting any events that may occur for quality, maintaining a current QC program for ACR and reporting any equipment failures or problems. Required Skills & Experience:-One (1) year of experience in CT. --Post-hire expectation:-Meets departmental IV certification competency within three months of hire.-(Where applicable) Must complete the controlled substance module within six (6) months of hire.-(Where applicable) Must complete the initial moderate sedation module within six (6) months of hire.--Physical Requirements:-Hearing/Listening, Lifting, Manual Dexterity, Seeing, Standing.\nPreferred Skills & Expererience:-N/A\n--Radiation Badge Requirement:-A personal radiation monitoring badge (dosimeter) is required for this assignment.-To maintain an accurate and continuous exposure record, providers are encouraged to use an existing badge from a previous employer or assignment when available.-If a new badge is issued, prior exposure history will not be reflected.Required Education:\n-N/A\n\nPreferred Education: \n-N/A\n\nRequired Certifications & Licensure:\n-ARRT registered technologist.\n-Current Utah State licensure (for positions in Utah).\n-Basic life support (BLS) certified for healthcare providers.\n\nPreferred Certifications & Licensure:\n-CT registered by ARRT.
