Job Summary:
As a member of our Private Client Select underwriting team you will focus on underwriting personal lines Property & Casualty products for high net-worth individuals in the US.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for underwriting a book consisting of large accounts and complex risks for partner brokers.
- Rapidly evaluates, prioritizes, and selects submissions to ensure completeness and rate adequacy, evaluate risks and controls, and ensure compatibility with risk appetite.
- Identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, claims experience and appropriate controls. Analyze claims and quantifying losses.
- Adhere to guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price risks. Use sophisticated underwriting and producer management tools to meet profitability goals.
- Offer coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Meet new business and renewal retention goals through strong negotiation and communication skills which may involve virtual and onsite meetings with brokers, clients, or centers of influence.
- Identify and target new business and cross sell opportunities by building relationships with producers and account managers.
- Make independent sales calls to build strong relationships and grow the book of business. Communicate risk appetite and value proposition.
- Capture market intelligence and broker feedback on accounts to drive account and portfolio strategies.
- Document underwriting files accordingly per authority statements and guidelines.
- Review, evaluate, and recommend modifications to underwriting guidelines and workflows.
- Engage in various underwriting and marketing projects to improve overall company results.
- Strictly adhere to the underwriting authority vested by the insurance carrier partner.
- Utilize knowledge of the company’s products and services to connect with agents and increase submissions.
- Optimize profitable, new business growth by implementing marketing strategies to increase brand awareness, acquire new customers and establish a reputation as an industry leader.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Education:
- 2-7 years of Personal Lines Property & Casualty Insurance underwriting experience or relevant professional experience
- Property & Casualty Licensure required or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Strong knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Analytical and quantitative skills.
- Strong influencing, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions.
- Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to self-direct, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
- Takes initiative on projects and assignments, seeks alternate solutions when necessary.
- Highly motivated and results oriented.
- Positive, energetic, self-motivated, and possesses strong interpersonal skills.
- Microsoft Excel knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
