Large QSR Restaurant Brand
Torrance, CA
Salary: 110k to 120k plus 10% bonus
A well-established national quick service restaurant brand is seeking a Director of Risk & Safety to lead enterprise-wide safety, compliance, and risk mitigation strategies across company-operated restaurants.
This role will partner closely with operations leadership to ensure safe restaurant environments for employees and guests while reducing operational risk, workers compensation exposure, and liability across the organization.
The ideal candidate will come from a restaurant or multi-unit foodservice background and have experience supporting high-volume restaurant operations.
Position Overview
The Director of Risk & Safety will be responsible for developing and executing safety initiatives, compliance programs, and risk management strategies across multiple restaurant locations. This leader will collaborate with operations, HR, and legal teams to ensure restaurants operate safely while maintaining operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement company-wide risk management and safety programs for restaurant operations
Lead initiatives to reduce workers compensation claims, general liability incidents, and safety risks
Partner with operations leadership to ensure restaurant safety standards and compliance protocols are consistently executed
Conduct risk assessments and safety audits across restaurant locations
Oversee investigation of workplace incidents and coordinate corrective action plans
Monitor and analyze incident trends, claims data, and loss prevention metrics
Ensure compliance with OSHA, health department, and regulatory safety requirements
Collaborate with HR on employee safety training and workplace policies
Support operational teams in implementing practical, restaurant-focused safety solutions
Manage relationships with insurance providers, third-party administrators, and legal partners regarding claims management
Provide guidance and training to field leadership on best practices in risk prevention and workplace safety
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in risk management, safety, or compliance within restaurant, hospitality, or multi-unit retail operations
Strong understanding of restaurant operations and high-volume foodservice environments
Experience managing workers compensation, general liability claims, and safety programs
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety compliance
Experience partnering with operations leadership and field teams
Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence across multiple departments
Preferred Background
Experience supporting multi-unit restaurant or QSR operations
Familiarity with loss prevention and insurance claims management
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA certification, or similar credentials preferred
