Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee multiple commercial construction projects across regional sites. The Traveling Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring projects are executed safely, on schedule, on budget, and to quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, clear communication with clients and trades, and the flexibility to travel frequently between industrial, warehouse, and retail job sites as project needs dictate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate on-site construction activities for multiple commercial projects, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Lead daily or weekly site meetings with subcontractors, foremen, and project teams to communicate priorities, resolve issues, and track progress.
  • Enforce safety protocols and company/OSHA standards; conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, RFI responses, submittals, and change orders; coordinate necessary adjustments with project management.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules; proactively identify and mitigate schedule risks to meet milestones and delivery dates.
  • Monitor quality control procedures and perform regular inspections to ensure workmanship meets contract requirements.
  • Manage subcontractor performance and coordinate procurement of materials to prevent delays.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports, progress photos, and project documentation to project managers and clients.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients and stakeholders, maintaining professional relationships and clear communication.
  • Travel frequently to assigned project sites; adapt quickly to changing site conditions and priorities.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of superintendent experience in commercial construction with demonstrable project oversight and leadership skills.
  • Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar role, with strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; able to coordinate multiple subcontractors and trades.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety with OSHA 30-hour preferred and experience conducting safety inspections and meetings.
  • Valid drivers license with willingness and ability to travel frequently and stay overnight as required.
  • Proficient in construction reporting and documentation (daily reports, schedules, RFIs, submittals); experience with common construction management software is a plus.
  • Preferred (nice-to-have): experience on industrial, warehouse, and retail projects, and prior experience as a traveling superintendent or multi-site supervisor.
