Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract requiring a minimum of 3 years of RN circulator experience and evening shift availability with on-call responsibilities.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with 12 OR suites averaging 30 cases per day
- Common case types include general surgery, orthopedic, GYN, urology, ophthalmology, vascular, and plastic surgery
- Scrubbing is not required for RNs; OR techs are present and work alongside RN staff
- EMR system used is Meditech; Epic is also referenced in the system
- Evening shift position scheduled as five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts per week
- On-call is required and rotates across evenings, nights, and weekends with 8-hour call shifts
- Must be available to respond on-site within 30 minutes when on call
- Floating to Endoscopy may be required if not needed in Surgery
- No self-scheduling; employees may coordinate with each other to determine call shifts
- Holiday on-call coverage is required on a rotational basis
Requirements
- Active WV RN license or valid compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum of 3 years of RN circulator experience required
- Driver's license address must be located outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Two supervisor/peer references required (at least one supervisor reference; if permanently employed within the last 12 months, one reference must be from that facility)
- Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration
- Copies of all current certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Scrubs are provided through the facility's surgery vending machine
- Unit orientation consists of 2–4 shifts
- Each shift has an RN charge nurse, and a nursing supervisor is on duty for the hospital 24/7
- Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
- Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for more than one cumulative year before taking a 2-year break
