This role operates an insulation lamination machine to produce rolls of insulation used in a variety of building applications. You will use a control panel to run the machine, follow specific button sequences, and support the full production process from feeding materials to packaging finished rolls. Most new team members learn the core machine operation within one to two weeks, and you will work closely with a small, collaborative crew to meet daily production goals.
Responsibilities
- Operate an insulation lamination machine to produce rolls of insulation according to production specifications.
- Use a control panel to start, stop, and adjust the machine by pressing buttons and following the correct operating sequences.
- Feed raw product into the machine, ensuring consistent material flow and monitoring for jams or defects.
- Bag and remove finished rolls of insulation from the machine and prepare them for shipment.
- Palletize finished rolls of insulation safely and efficiently, stacking them in a stable and organized manner.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks, including moving pallets of insulation using material handling equipment as needed.
- Support daily production targets by helping to make and pull approximately 250–300 rolls of insulation each day.
- Assist on the band saw to cut insulation rolls to custom lengths based on customer requirements.
- Use forklifts and other material handling equipment, when trained, to move product throughout the facility.
- Perform general production and warehouse tasks such as packing, loading, unloading, and shipping.
- Use RF scanners or similar tools, when applicable, to track inventory and shipments.
- Maintain reliable attendance to ensure production schedules are met and to avoid extending coworkers’ shifts.
- Work flexibly across different stations and tasks as needed, supporting teammates and maintaining a strong team-oriented environment.
- Follow safety procedures when working around fiberglass insulation and operating machinery, keeping the work area clean and organized.
Essential Skills
- Experience in manufacturing or warehouse environments, including general production or material handling.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic, with the ability to consistently arrive on time and complete full shifts.
- Ability to lift insulation rolls weighing approximately 60–75 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift, with occasional lifts up to 100 pounds depending on roll size.
- Comfort working with fiberglass insulation and in an environment where insulation products are produced and handled.
- Flexibility to work at different stations and perform various tasks as needed, including machine operation, material handling, and shipping support.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a willingness to support coworkers and follow directions.
- Good hand–eye coordination and ability to multitask, especially when operating machinery and handling materials.
- Comfort using basic production tools and equipment, including control panels, palletizing tools, and basic warehouse equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in production or warehouse roles involving packing, loading, unloading, and shipping.
- Experience operating forklifts or other powered industrial trucks.
- Familiarity with saw operation, particularly band saws, for cutting materials to custom lengths.
- Experience using RF scanners or similar inventory tracking tools.
- Comfort in fast-paced environments where daily production targets must be met.
- Interest in learning machine operation and taking on additional responsibilities over time.
- A team-oriented mindset and enjoyment of task-focused work that requires coordination and attention to detail.
