Job Title: Superintendent
JANSON is seeking a Superintendent to join our team and support our Buildings & Environments domain. This is a full-time position located in Northern Virginia. Most of our building projects are for DoD, Federal and commercial customers.
This individual will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing all aspects of construction projects for JANSON’s Buildings & Environments efforts. You will be responsible for managing site leads, general contractors and other vendors as well as ensuring that projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Location: Fairfax, VA / Fort Belvoir, VA (Hybrid Remote)
Start: Immediately
Clearance: Secret
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- SECRET clearance preferred but not required (must be eligible for a clearance).
- 3–5 years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial or tenant fit-out projects.
- Strong understanding of field operations, safety programs, construction methods, and building codes.
- Proven team leadership, project scheduling, and field coordination skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and scheduling software (or whatever you use).
- Participate in preconstruction planning and logistics coordination.
- Develop and maintain detailed three-week look-ahead schedules.
- Coordinate inspections, submittals, RFIs, and quality assurance documentation.
- Manage project close-out activities including punch lists and testing.
- Strong client engagement skills and team player mentality
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage site leads and trades.
- Develop project plans and manage timelines.
- Ensure that all construction and GC activities follow building code and regulations.
- Oversee the selection and coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, etc.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Champion a culture of safety on construction sites, strictly enforcing compliance with federal, DoD and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Ensure adherence to federal environmental regulations, including waste disposal and mitigation measures.
Quality Control:
- Implement a comprehensive quality control program to ensure that work meets or exceeds federal standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections to verify compliance with design and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with quality control inspectors and ensure that corrective actions are taken when necessary.
