This opportunity is for a full-time American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter and teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing students within a K-12 educational setting. The position offers a contract lasting the current school year (CSY) with potential for the next school year (NSY). The role is based in Peachtree Corners, GA, and requires strong communication skills and dedication to supporting students with hearing impairments.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing fluent ASL interpretation and instruction to K-12 students across various grade levels.
- Collaborating with educators, students, and families to facilitate effective communication and learning.
- Developing and implementing individualized lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
- Assisting students in acquiring language, literacy, and communication skills in ASL.
- Participating in meetings and professional development to stay current on best practices in deaf education.
Qualifications and experience:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) both receptive and expressive.
- Prior experience teaching or interpreting in a K-12 educational setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and educational strategies for supporting students with hearing loss.
- Ability to work 6 hours per day in a structured school environment.
