Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This temporary contract opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher serving K-12 students in the Denver area. The role involves supporting diverse learners with special needs across multiple schools within the Adams 12 School District, focusing on students requiring significant cognitive and affective supports.

Locations and Assignments:

  • Rocky Mountain Elementary School: Affective Needs Teacher
  • Thunder Vista P-8: Learning Specialist (ASAP through end of school year)
  • Century Middle School: Significant Support Needs (SSN) teacher for students with substantial cognitive challenges
  • Thornton Middle School: Learning Specialist (minimum 3 months, possibly through end of school year)

This full-time position offers approximately 35+ hours per week, beginning as soon as possible and continuing through May 22, 2026. The contract is structured for the current school year with a soft hiring timeline.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Colorado Department of Education certification in Special Education is required
  • Previous experience in special education settings preferred, with pay commensurate with years of experience (0-2 years to 10+ years)
  • Ability to work effectively with students who have significant support needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students unique cognitive and affective needs
  • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and assess student progress regularly
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that supports social, emotional, and academic growth
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and external service providers
